Chad What’s-his-name (8/31/08)

Sunday, August 31st, 2008

For those who are curious, yes, I have changed Chad Johnson’s name to Chad Ocho Cinco in my Preseason Player Projections & Rankings database.  You can say what you want about his maturity level, his ego, his IQ, etc., but the guy’s got every right to legally change his name as long as he’s willing to pay the associated fees (although I’d love to see the confusion this will cause at his local post office!).

Kicking off! (8/29/08)

Hi everyone - welcome to the Sherpa’s fantasy football strategy blog!

A recent Google search revealed ~30,000 results for “fantasy football strategy” and ~60,000 results for “fantasy football blog”, but just 4 results for “fantasy football strategy blog”! While I’m sure that many of the “fantasy football strategy” results would indeed lead you to blog entries, it still seems hard to believe that there aren’t already a multitude of blogs geared towards the ~20 million people who play fantasy football. So, when I tout my blog as the top fantasy football strategy blog, there’s almost no competition!

I have several goals in starting this blog:

  1. Promote my new fantasy football website www.FantasyFootballSherpa.com. Many people who play fantasy football have an intuitive feel for Position Scarcity, which captures the relative drop-off in fantasy value at the different roster positions. However, the Sherpa has figured out how to quantify Position Scarcity, which can put you at a huge advantage in preparing for your league’s draft or auction!
  2. Discuss fantasy football strategies from both a qualitative and a quantitative standpoint.
  3. Discuss other fantasy football topics that will appeal to a wide audience.

I welcome your comments, questions, and suggestions. Feel free to disagree with me - it makes for much more interesting discussions! I won’t be able to respond to specific questions you may have about your own fantasy football rosters, but feel free to include examples if they help you make a point about fantasy football strategy.

Hoping to guide you to victory!
